Overview

Haridwar is one of the primary areas where the river Ganges emerges from the mountains and enters the plain areas. If you want to purify yourselves take a holy dip in the water of the river Ganges at Haridwar. All your sins will be purified. Haridwar means gateway to the god. Haridwar is also one of the four places where Kumbh Mela occurs after rotation every twelve Years and Ardh Kumbh after every six years. It is said that drops of Amrit (Nectar) fell into the Brahmkund of Har-Ki-Pauri, therefore considered a dip in the Brahmakund.

Yamunotri is the source of the holy river the Yamuna and the seat of the Goddess Yamuna.  The Yamunotri Dham is the first hallowed destination of the Chardham Yatra. This Dham is committed to Goddess Yamuna, who regarded as a daughter of the Sun God (Surya Dev)

He eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface.
